Fair freehold reform.

Not retrospective punishment.

Justice for Property Rights is a member-led campaign comprising small investors, retirees, and regular families who could be seriously impacted by blanket changes to existing property rights.

We exist to reshape the narrative that ground rent and lease extension expropriation only impacts large institutions or wealthy estates.

Our 200+ members include retirees relying on modest ground rent income, families who built small portfolios over time, resident-owned freehold companies, and other individuals with lawful existing interests.

What is justice for property rights?

  • Justice for Property Rights exists to ensure freehold reform is fair, proportionate and does not retrospectively strip lawful property rights from ordinary people who invested in good faith.

The campaign supports action against genuinely unfair lease terms and backs practical progress towards commonhold. But reform must distinguish between abuse and lawful long-standing arrangements.

  • We represent the people missing from the public debate. That includes retirees relying on modest ground rent income, families who built small portfolios over time, resident-owned freehold companies, and other individuals with lawful existing interests. This is not just about large institutions or wealthy estates.

  • The campaign has launched in response to government proposals that could reduce or eliminate ground rents on existing leases and materially affect the value of freehold assets already owned by individuals. The concern is not reform itself. The concern is the breadth and retrospective nature of what is now being proposed.
